From	Barack Obama <info@barackobama.com>
To:	Karyn McDermott <karyn_mcd@yahoo.com>
Karyn –

Two years ago, I met 10 of you.

Just before I accepted our party’s nomination in front of 80,000 people in Denver, I spoke with 10 grassroots supporters who had won a trip to meet me backstage.

I still remember the time we spent together — because these are the people, like you, who stood with me in 2008, and got me through the tough fights since.

But we face another test on November 2nd that will say a lot about our future — and I need you by my side again.

A Supreme Court decision I strongly disagree with has shifted the balance of power in our elections from folks like you to giant corporations. Their massive spending on attack ads could have a real impact on who represents you at all levels of government. Only supporters like you — and all the work you are doing — are standing in their way..This is the latest in numerous emails I have received from Plouffe, Axlerod, Michelle et al these past couple of days.

I received an email from a kind soul named Marian from MoveOn.org inviting me to a party Saturday to “Help Save Our Progressive Heroes.” At first I thought it was one of those pesky Young Republicans having a laugh, but no, it’s legit. Checked my schedule and it turns out I’m available so Marian and MoveOn get ready – only thing is what to wear, a Tea Party t-shirt?. I went to a presidential debate party hosted by another local Leftie but had to park my car a block or four away because of those bumper stickers like Raise My Taxes, Lose My Vote. The pungent incense and cheap red wine led to me trying to support Senator McCain over the Democratic nominee though I sincerely professed I was for the Ron Paul ‘Revolution’ which bought me some more time before the lynching began. For all of the Left’s ‘inclusion’ and ‘diversity’ arguments, it would seem ideas are welcome from a certain perspective.

Marian of MoveOn wants to save “progressive heroes’ like Russ Feingold who is in real danger of losing his seat which is shocking to even seasoned political observers. This “Yes We Can” ‘party’ reflects the desperation of President Obama who is criss-crossing the nation between golf games stumping for candidates he really should have to in so-called ‘blue states’ including his own. Alexi Giannoulis is running for Obama’s old senate seat and seems to need all the help he can get from the top whilst saying there is no electoral corruption in Chicago with a straight face. You can’t make this up…

Joe Biden just sent me an email:

Wed, October 20, 2010 12:06:20 PM

Karyn, I’ve had it up to here

From:	Joe Biden <info@barackobama.com
To:	Karyn McDermott <karyn_mcd@yahoo.com>
Karyn –

Remember when the GOP was in control?

They drove up record deficits to pass tax cuts for the wealthy at the expense of the middle class.

And now they want to do it again. If they take over Congress, Republicans have promised to go back to the “exact same agenda” that drove our economy into a ditch.

You can’t make this stuff up. The exact same agenda.

Well, Joe, America has had it ‘up to here’ too. And, yes, you can’t make this stuff up.

The First Lady along with the 42nd President are also out demonizing the Republicans and the Chamber of Commerce. Even Barney Frank needs some help in his Massachusetts district but given his role in Fannie and Freddie this is hardly a surprise. His Republican opponent, Sean Beilat, was heckled this week by Frank’s boyfriend after a televised debate. Very touchy indeed. There is, indeed, trouble in Democratic paradise. After Scott Brown’s election to Ted Kennedy’s seat the Democrats should not be surprised that even Massachusetts might swing to the Right.

The past week has been brutal to the ruling elite with Patty Murray in Washington State engaging the Comeback Kid, and Barbara Boxer not where you would expect her to be in the polls. California should have been a state not to be concerned about yet it is on the toss-up list. Non- partisan analyst Stu Rothenberg puts the number of competitive seats at 100 while Charlie Cook and the Cook Report put it just under that at 97.

Back to President Obama and his kind email wanting to meet me. Mr. President, it was easy, you were supposed to drive right past my front door on your way to a closed, hand-picked audience at the local recreation center in Southside, Richmond. The secret service had confirmed the route as late as 11pm the previous evening but one has to ask whether all the signs placed all the way down Cherokee Road demanding lower taxes and less spending have anything to do with the re-route?

‘Change’ and ‘Hope’ and ‘Yes We Can’ are lovely, inspiring slogans that say, mean and do nothing, Rassmussen reports today that no less than 64% of Americans think the country is on the wrong track. Politics is the art of the possible but numbers do not lie.

Lou Dobbs addresses largest ever Tea Party Convention in Richmond

The 2010 Virginia Tea Party Patriots Convention had a successful start Friday with nearly three thousand Tea Party members and supporters flocking to the Greater Richmond Convention Center for the largest Tea Party convention in the nation.

The convention’s theme “The Constitution Still Matters” reflects the massive grassroots movement’s particular attention to the Constitution’s constraints on federal power.

The gathering continued Saturday with keynote speaker Lou Dobbs, touted by organizers as an “independent voice for constitutional adherence, limited government and fiscal restraint for decades.”

Dobbs was greeted by the standing crowd with chants of “Lou, Lou” as the media sensation strode to the podium. Click to Read more…

Tea Party is not all politics and policy

Tea Party can party

The inaugural 2010 Virginia Tea Party Patriots Convention kicks off first thing Friday at the Convention Center in downtown Richmond.

There are plenty of break-out seminars, policy speeches and keynote addresses to keep even the most avid political junkie engaged from Rep. Ron Paul to political strategist and former Clinton advisor Dick Morris to the trifecta of Virginia’s elected leaders in Gov. Bob McDonnell, Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling and Tea Party superstar Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.

But possibly the real action will take place when the sun goes down as the real Tea Party begins. Originally touted as a one room ‘Freedom Lovers’ Extravaganza’ it has mushroomed into a massive ‘Club Hopping at the Marriott’ with the:

•Freedom Fever Dance Hall
•Liberty Lovers Lounge and Martini Bar
•Don’t Tread on Me Saloon
•TEA’d Off Coffee House
Tired from debating the merits of fiscal responsibility and lower taxes the tea partiers can get down and boogie with Mo’Sol, an Atlanta dance band, Canadian sensation John Morello who pays tribute to the legendary Dean Martin and a ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ poker game and open piano. For those who want a quiet retreat from all the tea partier action the open mic, tea and desserts at the TEA’d Off beckon.

The theme for the evening is “Virginia is for Freedom Lovers” but whether the tea partiers throw away fiscal responsibility for one night is anyone’s guess; poker, beer, dancing, desserts, martinis and they might just be spending like a drunken sailor. Or the Obama administration…

Major national political names heading to Richmond

Thousands from Virginia and beyond will descend on the Richmond Convention Center for the first Virginia Tea Party Patriots Convention which kicks off Friday morning ending late Saturday afternoon.

The Convention, just like the Tea Party movement itself, started of small and has mushroomed into what will be an undoubted success given speakers such as Dick Morris, Ron Paul, Lou Dobbs, Rick Santorum, Ginni Thomas, John Fund, Herman Cain and many more. Virginia will be represented with Governor Bob McDonnell, Lt.Gov. Bill Bolling and Tea Party favorite Ken Cuccinelli, the Commonwealth’s Attorney General.

Reported to be the largest Tea Party convention so far, Richmond Tea Party President and the head of the Virginia Tea Party Patriots Federation, Jamie Radtke, says she has been doing lots of media to promote the event and its message, one even as far away as Tasmania, Australia.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch yesterday devoted not only its front page to the Convention with a terrific photo of Chester Patriots’ Ralph Carter and his Gadsden flag but a full seven articles inside the body of the newspaper plus a column by Craig Comess.

A link to all these articles can be found through the Richmond Tea Party’s website HERE.

There has been little opposition to the Convention thus far and even Democratic Mayor Dwight C. Jones says Richmond is an appropriate venue given its history and encourages Convention goers to “enjoy our city and spend lots of money.” Organizers expect few, if any protestors.

Vendors stalls have sold out and tickets to the event are selling speedily with one reason for the popularity of the event is the affordability is ticket prices in comparison with those in other states.

Cantor also slams Pelosi over Rangel!

House Minority Whip, Eric Cantor (Va-7th), says Democrats are in danger of losing power on Capitol Hill should they choose the reconciliation option in passing the President’s revised heath care reform bill.

Speaking on ‘Meet the Press’ Sunday, Rep. Cantor discussed the bipartisan health care summit called by President Obama and held at the Blair House in Washington D.C. and the Senate and House votes needed to pass the legislation.

“I’ll tell you one thing. If Speaker Pelosi rams through this Bill, through the House, using the reconciliation process, they will lose their majority in Congress in November,” Cantor said.

Earlier in the week Republican Whip Cantor released a statement which his office says was offered “in light of Senator Reid’s support for changing the rules in the middle of the game by using reconciliation.”

“By using the reconciliation process, the Administration and Democrat leaders are sending a clear signal that they still refuse to listen to the American people and have no interest in bipartisanship. To be certain, by using the reconciliation process, the Administration makes clear that their promise of bipartisanship is dead.” Cantor said.

Cantor went on to say that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi…Read more…

Joe from Milwaukee Wisconsin, Sarah from Grand Rapids Michigan, John from Austin Texas, Jan and Michael from Syracuse New York State, the McCafferty family from Palm Beach Florida and hundreds of thousands of people from all over America had one thing in common on Saturday 9/12; they came to their nation’s capital to peacefully protest the direction the nation is taking.

People gathered in Freedom Plaza near the White House to march down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol grounds. The march had been originally been scheduled to start around 11 am but got under way hours early due to the sheer number of people flooding out …Read more…

Former Alaskan Governor and last year’s Republican candidate for Vice President,Sarah Palin, is not slipping quietly away as some would have hoped.
This week Palin will consider accepting and rejecting well over the 1,000 invitations she has received for speeches and political appearances both paid and unpaid since she left office in July this year. In fact it was reported in the Atlantic this morning; Palin will be traveling to Hong Kong for her first paid speaking engagement in late September.
More than twenty speakers’ bureaux have been reported as making offers to represent her but the former Governor has decided to sign with the Washington Speakers Bureau which has clients such as former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, America’s Mayor, Rudy Giuliani who is on course to be the next Governor of New York, former Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of State Colin Powell, former British PM Tony Blair, formers Secretaries of State Condi Rice and Madeline Albright and high profile journalists Katie Couric and Bob Woodward to name but a few. The irony being represented by the same firm as Couric should not be lost given the Couric/Palin interview is still being dissected – not one of Palin’s greater moments during the Presidential campaign.
Palin has received more than 950 requests to speak with the paid ones expected to go for six figures a piece. Unpaid speeches will be for various political and charitable causes, including military families, Christian organizations and support groups for families with special needs children. She is uniquely qualified to speak on these matters given her familial circumstances with a young son serving in the military and her youngest born with Down syndrome in just the past year or so. She has strong and firm Christian beliefs which went a long way to solidifying the political and cultural base of the GOP during her candidacy last year. Read more…

Tomorrow, August 4, is President Barack Obama’s birthday.

Last week, the House of Representatives voting 378 to zero passed a measure marking August 21 2009 as the 50th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood. Rightly so.

The Bill also noted Barack Hussein Obama’s birth in Hawaii on August 4 1961 and a “yes” vote backed HR 593 which even actually drew support from Republicans who question the President’s citizenship.

This past week we have witnessed a phenomenon; that is The Birthers.

Given that tomorrow is the President’s birthday should we be questioning his constitutional right to be president as eligible under Article 2, Section 1 of the United States Constitution to hold the office of President of the United States?

The President, who is well known for voting “present.” That’s not a ‘yes’ and it’s not a ‘no’. It’s a maybe; it’s non committal. Hillary brought this up in the debates but that’s ancient history.

So what to get the President who votes ‘present’ for his birthday present?
